In this class you will learn various watercolour effects and techniques, how to stencil with royal icing and metallic wet lustre using different ways to apply the pattern over watercolour, and how to apply, decorate and create accents with silver leaf. You will take home a 6 x 6 inch cube cake that has 4 differently decorated sides adorned with multiple techniques, plus plenty of new skills! Suitable for all levels, including beginners.

(Class will also include demonstrations on how to cover a styrofoam cube cake and how to achieve sharp fondant edges).

Cocoa Butter Hand painting on cakes is one of the top trends in cakes. We will be working monochromatically (like the sample in blue - which is based on a vintage china pattern) to learn the how to control the medium and to learn some basics of painting. Note: we will be painting on a 2 dimensional piece of fondant (which will be easier to pack on your trip home), rather than a round dummy.

In this class we will learn several different uses for wafer paper.  First we will go over the wafer paper basics, uses, coloring, tips and tricks for working with wafer.  Up next we will create a peony,  They are super elegant and can elevate a simple cake from drab to fab!  Using templates are great but with the freedom you get with wafer paper you can make free form flowers too!  Yes, no templates!  We will make a basic flower template free, assemble, make a center and add movement to your flower.  Wafer paper is so versatile and even though it gets a bad name for being one dimensional on a cake, I will show you how to fold it for show stopping dimension!  YES, my folded wafer paper technique will be taught in this class!  Finally we will use wafer paper to create a realistic bark texture I call The Weathered Wafer Paper Technique plus how to get a mermaid weathered wafer paper look too!
